Pan European Network

We are delight to announce to build a Pan European network on Maintenance upon the achievements of the EuroMaint project and the Pan European Workshop on Maintenance Management Education and Training, that took place the 12th of September in 2008. This was decided by 38 persons from 15 different countries, all high level actors in the area of Maintenance Management education and training. A final statement was made:

European collaboration reinforces professional maintenance management in Europe with the development of knowledge exchange between universities and the maintenance societies. To do so we have to realize:

-       a (partly virtual) network between universities on maintenance (partnership tender)

-       an European network in collaboration with the European Training Committee EFNMS;

-       various comparable Maintenance Courses on universities, acceptable for the working field

-       comparable methods and criteria on Quality Assurance for those Maintenance courses

If you believe that cooperation with (other) universities and with the EFNMS on Maintenance is important for your institute or university please let us know and contact us.

Introduction: the function of a Maintenance Manager is to provide an optimum on asset utilization which should result in a maximum profit to the company. The skills set determines on how succesfull he or she will be. Therefore the education with all the aspects described in the Guide to Maintenance Management will enable the maintenance manager to fulfil his function. In this publication you will find a complete overview of the competencies as required by industry. It is to these competencies the Maintenance Manager must respond. Throughout the framework of the EuroMaint project, the competencies for Maintenance Managers, including a procedure for a personal development plan, are discussed and focused on industrial needs. We then describe the way in which a Maintenance Manager can be certificated. One way to become a good Mainatenance Manager is to educate oneself. In this publication we show the possibilities for learning and we give a Maintenance Management curriculum developed within this project, with recommended literature. The learning approach is based on actual experiences. To support this, various examples are given of case studies collected from situations all over Europe, and they show the way how Maintenance Management produces that added value.
